WEEKEND CLUB RIDES
[ Latest development, November 2005: Our weekly Sunday rides just got a shot in the arm and have become a really popular local thing. These are open rides, 50-60 miles in distance, LSD (long steady distance) pace, and typically start with the same outbound route, with variations on the return that create subgroups. No drop policy does not apply. Rides meet at Cycle Sports Sunday mornings. Please be ready to roll at 8AM. ]
Riders of all levels are invited to join us (almost) every weekend for group rides up into the scenic Oakland Hills. Rides may start between 8AM and 10AM (ride leader's prerogative!), Saturday or Sunday, and usually meet at Cycle Sports, 3530 Grand Avenue, Oakland, or Cafe Di Bartolo down the street. Rides usually begin with a social pace to the top of the first significant climb, then split into smaller groups to best match participating riders' target distance, pace, effort and time limitations. Club ride announcements are generally made on the email list.
TUESDAY EVENING SPEED & THRESHOLD
This group ride departs at 7:00PM every Tuesday from the Lake Merritt Colonnade (the pillars across the Lakeview branch of the Oakland Library) on the North side of Lake Merritt, located on El Embarcadero between Grand and Lakeshore Avenues. Ride pace is usually brisk and the duration is anywhere between 1 and 2 hours, depending on ride participation. The ride route is generally a flat, short circuit. Front and rear lights are required during seasons in standard (non-daylight savings) time. RAIN CANCELS.
